Mission and Purpose:

The TSA mission is to protect the Nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. In todays world we have to be very cautious and careful so that your travel will be completely safe, especially from terrorist threats. Below is a list of TSA guidelines that you as a traveler must follow to ensure a safe journey:

April 25, 2013 New Guidelines:

Starting April 25, 2013 certain knives and sports equiptment are allowed on carry on luggage. Knives must not exceed 2.36 inches and be no wider than half an inch. No grip knives, fixed knives, or knives that lock are allowed. Only folding knives are allowed. Baseball bats (no larger than 24 inches and weigh no more than 24 ounces), golf clubs (limit 2), hockey sticks, pool sticks, lacrose sticks, and ski poles will all be permitted after April 25, 2013

Liquids:

Your beauty lotions and gels and liquids such as shampoo and conditioner that you carry on in your carry on bags should not contain more than 3.4 oz. which must be sealed in a one quart plastic bag. TSA Guidelines allows every traveller to carry only one plastic bag for their liquids and lotions. Liquids and gels weighing less than 3.4 oz. can be put into carry-on luggage, provided it is sealed in 1 qt. plastic bag. One qt. bag is allowed per person. Anything more must be placed into checked-in luggage.

Liquids that are Allowed:

You are allowed to carry with you important medicines, and life support liquids, as well as duty free items that you purchased after you have already checked in you lugguge. Baby formula and breast milk is also allowed in larger than 3.4 oz containers. These type of liquids must be presented to TSA officials for inspection.

Cigarette Lighters:

Lighters are not permitted in your checked baggage unless there is no fuel in them. 2 lighters or less are allowed with you if they are enclosed in a DOT approved case.

Firearms and Knives:

TSA regulations state that scissors of more than 4 inches, knives (some knives will be allowed April 25, 2013. See above for new regulations), self defense items, and legal guns are not allowed on the carry on bag. You can check them in provided they are properly wrapped to prevent injury upon inspection. Luggage:

Each individual airline decides how many bags you are allowed to bring with you during your travels. If you are unsure of the size or weight of the suitcases that you are allowed to bring with you get in touch with the airline that you will be flying with.
